The Impact of Cybersecurity for Mid-Sized Companies

On Thursday, February 27, our CEO, Antoine Pilarczyk, had the pleasure of speaking at the “Investing in Safety: The Impact of Cybersecurity for Mid-Sized Companies” event, alongside Marco, Vincent and Florian. A big thank you to the French Chamber of Commerce and its ICT Committee for organizing such an insightful discussion, and to all the participants for their enthusiasm and great questions.

Human factors are still a major cause of cloud data breaches; human error was the leading cause with 31%.87% of cyber attacks concern the extraction of data.

During the evening’s discussion, we explored several striking examples of cyberattacks that underscored just how vulnerable organizations can be without proper defenses.

– We highlighted the ransomware incident that targeted the city of Angers, where the initial attack lasted only eight hours, yet it took a full year for the municipality to restore operations to normal levels.

– We also delved into the “hacker bombardment” case, where an attacker illegally accessed a publicly available database and attempted to sell fraudulent VIP cards to every client in it.

– Finally, we examined a blackmail scenario in which a self-proclaimed “ethical” hacker demanded money to avoid releasing sensitive data, proving that even so-called benevolent hackers can pose serious threats.

Together, we highlighted key cybersecurity priorities:

✅ Cybersecurity is everyone’s business — no organization is too small to be a target.

Regular IT audits are a must to assess and strengthen your security posture.

Proactivity is key—waiting for an incident to happen is not an option.

If you have any questions, concerns, or cybersecurity challenges, don’t hesitate to reach out. We would love to continue the conversation!
